Spin Your Way to Health

Spinning is a popular group exercise for general fitness and cyclists looking to stay in shape in the off
season. A typical, heart-pumping session can burn massive calories and may make you feel like your legs are going to fall off or it can be a relaxing ride to just break a sweat.

Spinning is an aerobic workout set to music and taught by our certified spinning instructors. Fit1 spin classes are usually 50 minutes long, including warm up and cool down. Spinning is great if you find motivation in groups, great music, and the freedom to go at your own pace.

Spinning does not involve complex moves or choreography, but is still a challenging workout that is low-impact—appropriate if you have joint problems or need a break from high-impact exercise.

Safety and comfort are top priorities in a spinning class. Our instructors will cover the fundamentals
and safety points at the beginning of class to ensure a safe and effective workout for all fitness levels
and abilities. You are ultimately in control of your speed and resistance level, but our instructors will
intelligently guide you about how fast to pedal, what resistance to add, when to sit, stand or sprint, and how hard you should be working at any point throughout the class (spinning typical mimics varying road conditions). If you are a beginner, remember that spinning classes are not competitive. Always listen to your body. It can take time to build up your fitness level.

Even if you are used to working out but new to spinning, you will feel your legs fatigue—and probably
sooner that you’d expect! Saddle soreness is normal when starting out, but it usually goes away if you
attend class regularly. It might take a few classes to get used to spinning and see if spinning is for you, so don’t give up too soon—everyone is thoroughly challenged their first few times.

Fit1 Spin classes help you:

  • Burn calories
  • Build muscle tone (especially in the legs and buttocks)
  • Improve endurance
  • Low impact
  • Relieve stress
  • Increase mental focus
